Last summer class 4°Cr has set a questionnaire as regards the euro to some firms in order to know their opinions about the new single European monetary system. 45 firms of the following sectors have answered: fashion, catering and lodging, retail trade, chemistry engineerin petroleum, mechanics industry, tourism, sport and agriculturism.

4. Describe the commercial, financial, productive or technological novelties you are introducing.

With the coming of euro, the firm consired by the students of class 4°Cr assumed some internal modifications. The principal change has concerned banks's net information, in fact since 01/01/1999 it has been possible to open an account in Lit or in euro. Are mainly the banks to get application investiments in euro for their customers some firms are buying an accounting program in euro and since the next year they will have been bringing bookkeeping sales in both the currencies (Lira and euro). The enterprises, in sight of the 2002, are changing both their price list and the recorders of euro in box.

Class 4°Cr asked the firms a question on their requirement regarding euro.

• Three firms have answered to the question in an optimistic way, above all for a possible integration in the European market and for the bigger competitiveness.
• Other three firms allowed a pessimism above all for the rise of manegerial and organizational problems, but also because they think that nothing in the economic activity of the company substantially will not change.
• Two firms think that there won't be any changes, as their products will sell both in Lit and in euro, without any difference.

COMMENT

From the analysis of the statistics collected by class 4°Cr in the months of July and August it results that the enterprises have been already conformed to a future circulation of the unique coin thanks to cash-registers with both the currencies, price list adjourned and to the possibility of opening or renewing courent accounts in euro. To conclude, we can say that an optimistic opinion prevails corcening Euro prevails, but the enterprises are very sceptic on the likely future advantages. In fact, if a dealer sells now his products in Lira, he is very likely that he will also sell it Euro. The single monetary system will not change the tendency of the buyers and of the producers as regards simple product, but it will change the financial system of the enterprises.
